SLD (Speed Limit Defencer)

The HKS SLD has been designed to remove the speed restriction on cars made for the Japanese market. Currently, all cars produced in Japan for their market are restricted to 180 kmh (approx. 112mph).

This is done from within the ECU but HKS have managed to produce a small module that connects externally into the original ECU wires, making installation relatively straightfoward, enabling the vehicle to reach it's original top speed.

We would like to point out that many Japanese specification vehicles are built around this speed limit and hence sometimes use weaker/smaller components because of this (the Toyota Supra Twin Turbo has smaller discs and calipers for instance, compared to our U.K. spec. unrestricted vehicles) so we would advise you that brake upgrades may be necessary.
